Happy Easter everyone! This year the bunny put a Sunday special of Rising soccer in our baskets for us to enjoy.
Rising (0-1-2 2 points) travels to Birmingham (3-0-1 10 points) to take on the best of the east in the Legion. Rising is currently sitting at the bottom of the table in the west, a position this team has never been since it's inception. Rising got their first "win" of the season on Wednesday during open cup when they defeated Greenville Triumph in an unnerve display which looked like Greenville were going to equalize in the dying moments. Rising played with a few rotation players and the game resulted in Rising taking 17 shots (5 on target), 68% possession and 88% passing accuracy. The game winning goal came from Harvey in the 21st minute to advance rising in the open cup.
Birmingham also last played in the open cup where they defeated the red wolves 4-1. ESPN did not have detailed statistics for this game. Birmingham scored in the 45th minute (Agudelo), 47th (Smith), 63rd (Agudelo), and 87th (Nwegbo). The game also saw the sending off of Dupont after he was shown two yellows in the 55th minute. The lone red wolves goal came in the 79th minute.
Rising is looking for their first three points of the season. But it won't come without a challenge with the best team in the east coast being home.
Tune in to the game which kicks off at 2:30.
